1.0 Le Pantruche, 3, rue Victor Masse in the 9th, (Metro: Pigalle), 01.48.78.55.60, closed weekends, is a place two of my trusted, great friends raved about and when I suggested it to another blogger success story, she said "Just where I was thinking of." So off we went.
Enter; it's packed, with most of the front room apparently booked for an even bigger party. Nice. My eating partner was already there and it is to her I owe these photos since my camera died between snapping the front and sitting down in the heated back-room.
In any case, we look at the ardoise and I at least am not blown away by the firsts; but being a good soldier, I order the most interesting sounding, an oyster tartare on the emulsion of lettuce - an interesting combo - gutsy oysters with gentle lettuce. OK.
Then both of us (I know, big mistake, I know) order the joue de boeuf which in my case took a good deal of salt and pepper and in hers a good deal of mustard and pepper to bring up to edible - the wine in the sauce just had no heft.
Neither of us were game for a dessert, so onto coffee.
The bill with great Poujaran bread, a bottle of wine and one coffee = 67 E.
Go? My friends all love the place, the service is terrific, the prices right and the setting superb, but I will not be back, regretfully.
