L'Antre Amis is a place I ate at alone a couple of weeks ago and raved about; I couldn't wait to take Colette.
I just love this part of the 15th; especially the square it's on with medallions with the visages of four folks whose names adorn nearby streets, among whom the best known by me anyway is Rosa Bonheur.
Colette hankered for the slow-cooked, low-cooked oeuf bio with wild mushrooms, green asparagus and a lobster emulsion which I thought was the cat's meow; my repeat of the wok'd chipirons, creamy quinoa, Bellota, tomato "petals" and purslane leaves was also great.
Then she had the bar, whose skin was toasted perfectly, covered with summer vegetables on top of a parsnip puree and I again repeated my beef duo with creamy mashed potatoes both of which had wild mushrooms on top and within them accompanied by a zippy roasted garlic.
Finally she had a lemon tartelette with sorbet and an array of fruits - just wonderful! I had the strawberries and apricots with an apricot compote - most excellent.
Our bill with a bottle of wine, no bottled water and two coffees was 97.50E.
Bonus: For anyone who hasn't been thru the Duroc station recently:
Guess I don't understand your title. Sounds like it was delicious and m uch likelast time.

It was not as much a knock-down experience the second meal.

Hi John, just want to thank you for all the reviews, it's been great reading them and use it as our guide for our trip in late August. If you are free and would like to join us for dinner, please let us know. Thanks, Jerry

I've loved l'antre amis and been a fan but just had a bad experience there. They switched to no choice for the entree or dessert. We took a visitor who did not care for the entree and the serveuse refused to modify or even leave the offending part off of the plate. She was arrogant and inflexible. We were embarrassed for having taken a guest there. The food is good but not that good. So sorry that we won't be returning.

That's strange and must have happened this fall because friends we ate with two days ago said they'd loved it in June-July.

They told us that they had just made the change to no choice entree and dessert. I wish they had mentioned it when I made the reservation so that we would have known that it wouldn't be a good choice to bring visitors. What I really minded was the attitude of the server. The young Portuguese woman was as nice as ever and seemed uncomfortable with the response of the other woman. Looking back at reviews on other sites, I now see that indifferent or unpleasant service is a problem there.
