This was my third visit to Qui Plume La Lune, and my third opportunity to indulge in Jacky Ribault's spin on French food presented like a Japanese garden and cooked with Japanese sensitivities.
The amuse gueule was a dish in and of itself: raw salmon with seaweedy things and fresh almonds. At this point we diverged, I chose the 29 E forced choice "menu" and the other two went with 53 E menu-carte.
Monsieur le Professeur chose the foie gras sushi, really two lovely lobes of foie gras on rice on a hot rock; Colette went with the rougets, one piece of which was perched on three maki rolls of tasty black rice, finishing it off with a glass of warm apple "heaven"; I had 4 gambas, slightly but perfectly spiced around a very large salad in a big wooden boat - all quite wonderful.
Then Colette had the naté de peche, a sort of fish soup that had a fluffy emulsion that was incredible; M. had pigeon breast pieces on a bed of sesame seeds and I had the bonito tuna with fennel. I asked that the tuna be cooked on the outside and raw on the inside; again all were delicious!
Almost finally, Colette had the rhubarbapapa, that is, cotton candy on a tarte, M. had tomatoes and some other fruits in a coriander-infused sauce and I had the red fruits.
Finally came tartelettes of lemon and pots of cream and with coffee, we were very happy!
Our bill, with two bottles of wine, the coffees, and no bottled water, came to 205 E/3 thus 136.66 E a couple. Given all the extras, one could truly eat like a king with the 29 E "menu" a one wine and get out for 87 E.
Any problems? Yes, dishes appeared very slowly today for the first time.
