5.2 La Mangue Verte, 100 Rue d'Ivry in the 13th is a place we've been by time and again and wondered about it. Well, when every place we'd eaten at previously in the area and all the places there and elsewhere were closed exceptionally this New Year's we said why not?
We started off with two salads; one a Thai beef that while not as good, or containing as good beef or as zippy as Colette's recipe for Thai beef salad, it was pretty good; their signature green mango and crevettes salad was good. We then moved on to 3 grilled gambas, which we had to shell before rolling them up in lettuce leaves, together with mint and assorted veggies and sauteed lukewarm rice vermicelli - so-so at best.
For dessert Colette chose the tapioca with bananas; the bananas were "excrable". I had sliced pineapple that I rather liked. With a bottle of Bordeaux, 2 coffees a decibel level of 81.3 dB and no bottled water, our bill was 49.10 E.
Return? I think not.
