7.6 Cezembre, 17, rue Gregoire de Tours in the 6th, 09.67.57.25.08, closed Monday and Tuesday (Metro: Odeon) has been open since June and is already putting out sophisticated food albeit on a 1-2-1 "menu". Chef Anthony Hamon hails from Brittany and Cezembre is a small uninhabited island off St Malo; thus his menu features Breton food superbly sourced and served.
Our genial waiter, speaking impeccable English after hearing me talk with my great good friend from adolescence who lives here, was clear that if we had any problems with the 1-2-1 choice "menu" we should speak up, spelled out our dishes in detail. Both of us loved the idea of a langoustine with mousse of pumpkin and fluff sauce and its execution left us drooling. Then she had the cod with vegetables and I the filet mignon (unpictured) with girolles, carrots and potatoes; both absolutely fabulous. To end up we both had souffles with a dollop of chocolate ice cream in their center and we ate almost every morsel of crust on the edges.
Our bill with a bottle of fine Le Temps Est Venu, no bottled water, great bread and two terrific coffees was 89 E.
Go? I would book in a hurry, because given the hordes of students and visitors in the area, the place is bound to be jammed once the word gets out.
