4.8 Sur La Braise, 19, rue Brea in the 6th (right next door to Mullet), 01.43.27.08.80, closed Sundays, (Metro: Vavin) was one of these places that flew under the radar until A Nous Paris mentioned it just before the holidays in their "best of" series, this of BBQ's. One of my colleague-pals, whom I've worked with over 2 decades putting together international symposia was in town en route to his hospital 3 hours South from Vancouver, and this place seemed perfect. It certainly looked so from out front and inside - but there's more to come to explain the 4.8/10 rating.
We took forever to order largely because we were discussing family affairs, and perhaps that convinced out wait-lady we were in no hurry; in any case we ordered and after quite a wait, our two raviolis of cepes in a thick mushroom soup arrived and were consumed. Then after another long wait (and mind you, there were only about 10 others in the place), he had a grassfed entrecote from the Aubrac and I a grainfed entrecote from Spain, thinking it, being more fatty, would be more tasty. Maybe. With it he had a Béarnaise sauce and baked potato and I had a pepper sauce and fries. PS I verbally tussled with our order-taker about the cuisson of my beef, me insisting it be blue, she maintaining it could only be saignant plus. I gave in 1st.
After an incredibly long wait we got our bill; it was 122 for the two of us with decent bread and Illy coffee, one bottle and glass of wine and a lovely decibel level (71.2 dB).
Go? If like were long enough, perhaps, but it isn't and the long waits made the meal much less pleasant.
