6.2 Le Berry, 39, rue Brochant in the 17th, 01.46.27.41.47, closed for lunch Saturday and Mondays, for dinner Sunday and Mondays (Metro: Brochant) is a place recommended to me by a chef/tour guider denizen of the quartier and I've been meaning to go so Voila!. You enter and the etched windows and mirrors all have fowls, ducks, geese, who knows?, and an odor of garlic being fried in olive oil - thus announcing itself as providing regional cooking. And indeed, the sausage amuse is definitely from Pau or around.
I started with the lumas (a variety of escargots found in the Charentes), indeed smothered with garlic and oil and unnecessarily almond slices; then moved on to the boeuf-bourguignon like beef cheeks, quite yummy; and finishing with two scoops of ice cream (lime and café) from the Pole Sud, quite good as well.
So the bill, with a pot of wine, no bottled water, OK but not outstanding bread, a coffee and a reasonable noise level of 83.5 dB would be 44.90 E or just under 100 E a couple.
Go? I doubt any of my readers except for the loyals nearby, will go, but if staying in the 17th, it's a good option.
