8.0 Montée, 9, rue Leopold Robert in the 14th, 01.43.25.57.63 (reservations on La Fourchette) (Metro: Vavin), closed Sundays and Mondays, was opened by Takayuki Nameura and his charming wife about 3 months ago in the former Sur le Fil where my friends had celebrated their wedding with me not so long ago. I had read that the menus were 40 E at lunch and 80 E at dinner but had no idea this comprised 8 and 12 courses apiece. After some glazed nuts and aperos that my guests had waiting for me to arrive on my very long bus trip we were presented with:
The dishes that rolled out thusly:
a brandade of morue on their own delicious bread
a stalk of green asparagus wrapped in microtomed ripe avocado slices with a chopped tuna "relish"
calamari with coco nuts
turbot with fresh sorrel and coques
knifes with colorful handles to cut the
pork with lentil sprouts
apple with saffran and cider
The food was beautifully sourced, wonderfully cooked, grandly presented and thoroughly enjoyed. We equally enjoyed chatting with the owners.
Our bill, which was graciously picked up by my guests, mind you, with the equivalent of 2 bottles of wine, no bottled water but one coffee, was 207 E, thus 138 E a couple.
Go again? In a second.
