Steig Larsson's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was recommended to me by another food-crazed French-based guy who said this first in a trilogy was terrific in French. I, however, found a copy in English through browseforbooks.com in the UK and spent several wonderful days reading it.
The first 1/3rd goes by in the flash, but then it bogs down after the midway point and only at the end comes back to full speed.
Which is not to say I'm not looking forward to the next two of the series (Larsson died suddenly at 50 a few days after delivering the manuscript to his Swedish publisher. Too bad.) The girl in the title is as much a piece of work as the protagonist is a cool guy.
Nice blog. Greetings from Poland
