Since I reported on my meal at the (Restaurant) Claude Colliot, 40 rue des Blancs-Manteaux in the 4th earlier in December, 01.42.71.55.45, closed Sundays and Mondays, giving it a 7.5/10 I've been reading and hearing from others and not everyone is/was as wowed as I was, reminding me of the way folks react to the cuisine of William Ledeuil.
Today Colette and I and my charming ex-co-host at eG tried it again. I think I understand who some do not cotton to his food; his are not simple dishes, they have multiple, often-strangely sauced and dressed ingredients and he definitely pushes the envelope; plus as one critic noted, the names of dishes are a bit bizarre.
The above left was called cocquillages & crustaces, fair enough, it was certainly shrimp, scallops and razor clams, all nicely selected and toasted (on the plancha I assume) with a fluff sause, in the middle was a slice of foie gras wrapped in a microtimed vegetable with two diced condiments and our third had a soup of finely pureed veggies.
I then had a delicious gigot of lamb (properly undercooked) and the ladies both had the turbot; we all had a bowl of scrumptous celery soup.
I had the teardrop of chocolate with yellow beet; Colette a pop of carrot and Felice the agrumes agrumes which in part came from the tray of such on the right.
With wine, coffee and homemade water our bill (taking off the 1/2 bottle we apported) was 134 E.
Thanks for the review- i liked Claude Colliot.
