4.0 Le Cafe des Artistes, in the Les Etangs de Corot Hotel, 55 rue de Versailles in the Ville d'Avray, 01.41.15.37.00, closed Sunday night, Monday and Tuesdays, is the sister resto of Les Etangs de Corot and the guignette Les Paillotes, open only in the good weather, mainly summer. Colette and I ate at the fancier Etangs de Corot in October and deemed it lovely but not worth the trip.
But we wanted to try the wine bar downstairs which looked like "more fun." It wasn't.
I started with calamari sauteed a la plancha and Colette with a fish soup; the calamari were OK, the fish soup a bit too overwhelmed by the crustacians, in my book.
She then moved on to a green salad so she'd have room for dessert and dinner tonite (leftover coucou de Rennes from Table 28) - it was quite nice. And I had an entrecote with frites, both of which one would expect better of Bordier.
Colette terminated with the rice pudding with caramel pear topping which was barely OK.
The bathrooms are still marked with bizarre indicators of sex/gender that baffles me anyway.
Our bill with a bottle of wine, no bottled water and two coffees was 71 Euros.
Go again? Unfortunately, B.B. despite his superb setting, has seen the last of us.
