Le Gaigne is a place that Colette really likes (as do I) and while they know me and appreciate what I write about them, I don't think they can run out and slaughter a newborn lamb when they take my reservation, despite what Francois Simon says about anonymity getting him the same ecrevisses as Everyman does instead of the 6 best ones. There has been some negative chatter in the blogosphere about Le Gaigne which I have not and do not understand.
OK, so we went with cuz D. today, his last day with us (maybe,) depending on the Great Strike of 2010's impedition of his and his team's trip to La Rochelle for a sailing competition.
As with Ze Monday, I'll give you a panoply of photos with minor descriptions afterwards since I've already oooh'd and aaaah'd enough about Le Gaigne that you're surely tired of it all.
We had: an amuse-bouche of pumpkin soup, fall vegetables, quail that was both cru and cooked with endives and fried eggs with two delicate sauces, coucou de Rennes with corn and pomegranate seeds, bar (that may have been the best Colette and I have ever had) with beets and a saddle of lamb, wonderfully undercooked, with lamby bits and mushrooms as a side dish (not pictured - I screwed up) and tapioca with cubes of fruit and ice and two nummie desserty things.
We enjoyed; 2 bottles of Bordeaux, no bottled water and OK bread; 3 coffees offered. Our bill was 162 E for three, thus 108 E for a couple. There is a three course, 23E menu at lunch. We noted that they were so busy today that they were turning tables, something we'd not seen before - so clearly the word is out.
Go? I've never revised my original opinion; the place really holds up.
http://twitpic.com/2zaui2 Here's my dessert from when I was there back in September. That was the highlight of the meal for me, although every course was good. My wife and I were quite happy with Le Gaigne.

John, Just a quick thanks for your previous review of Le Gaigne, which made it imperative that we include it on our first trip to Paris this past September (see http://www.hefedshefed.com/2010/09/paris-le-gaigne.html for all the gory details). Amazing experience. -Jeremy

Back to Brazil.
Our last dinner was monday night at La Regalade St. Honore: outstanding. We had dinner at Frenchie, which was good, but enjoyed more LRSH. We also had dinner at Claude Colliot, which we liked.
We had lunch at Ledoyen, which was excellent, obviously different from those mentioned.
Best regards,
Fabio
