The reliable son of one of my oldest reliable friends declared a moratorium on Impressionist Block-buster art exhibitions a few years ago and I honored it for a while, but after seeing the Stein show yesterday, broke my resolve and went to the show of about 80 Cezanne's, painted in his "Paris" days. I was not impressed until I got to the last room entitled "Les Voies de Silence" containing works from the last 15 years of his life. Do these justify 12 E? Dunno.
No wows.
That sounds awfully familar. My impressionist moratorium is still on. Conversely, abstract impressionism still ok: although I do not like de Kooning, I liked the show in NY.

Expressionism that is. So much for reliable.
