5.1 Au Comptoir de Brice (Morvent), in the Marche St. Martin, 31-33 rue du Chateau d'Eau in the 10th, no telephone but they answer emails for reservations at [email protected] (Metro: Chateau d'Eau), open Tuesday-Saturday 9-8 and Sundays 9-2, was described when it opened as a nice place opened by a top contender for the Top Chef TV show in 2010 that served higher-end fast food. Well, that turned me off but my wonderful 9th Arr. friend suggested it for today and I thought "why not?" It is enclosed, so not freezing, has a changing chalkboard, house-made foccacia (good) and nice wines.
My agent-provocateur friend ordered the leek with a creamy sauce and microtomed truffles (very nice) and I had a fish soup that was slightly less nice.
Then she had a Croque du Comptoir (which today was duck) with a nice salad and extremely nice dressing and I had the confited jarret of veal with gnocchi with a nice sauce.
At this point, we got the point and cashed in our chips.
The bill with a bottle of Chinon, no bottled water but 2 Illy coffees, was 82 E.
Go? I rated it a 5.1/10, giving it the 0.1 over an average 5/10 because of the extraordinary nice service and foccacia. As my old friend from Zurban used to say "It's not urgent to go."
