Le MiniPalais in the 8th is a place that has never before disappointed but from the start we were off to a change: First, it was so loud on my three telephone calls to reserve that I wasn't sure I even had a rez; and Second, the food today was just not up to Eric Frechon's standards. We entered (yes they had the rez) and we passed up the interior room, grand as it is, for the terrace, forgetting the French women's addiction to tobacco.
I started off with gambas tempura style with ?catsup? HUH?, an unnecessary addition; then Colette had the pintade pieces (which according to her were "not very good") and I had the ris de veau en croute which was/were tender and moist but the breading was once again, unnecessary; and finally Colette had a Pavlova with red fruits which was the hit of an otherwise mediocre & overly expensive meal.
With a bottle and glass of wine (couldn't resist the "Gone with the Wind" Domaine de Tara), no bottled water, a nice brioche and 2 coffees, our bill was 131 E.
