5.0 N 41, Quarante & Un, 41 avenue Mozart in the 16th, 01 45 03 65 16, (Metro: Ranelegh), open 7/7, Pudlo says to run to, partly because it has a huge staff and many tables run by the folks who brought us the Fontaine de Mars, Café de l’Alma & le Petit Cler, and I limped there but from the bottom of a very long avenue Mozart. After telephoning (what would we do without an iPhone?) I found the place and my friends jammed into a moderately sized place with surprisingly moderate loudness = 78 dB's.
The menu has all the classics and we hit as many of them as we could:
- a bavette d'Aloyau with shallot sauce
- 2 pieces of cod fish 'n' chips with tartare sauce
- the special of the day, a blanquette de veau with rice
- a creme brulee and
- a pot de vanilla cream.
With a very nice Bordeaux served in brandy snifters and 3 coffees, our bill was 85.30 E or 56.86 E a couple.
Go? I'll send my back-packing grand-kids in a flash; for you veterans of the food wars, not so much.
