Jouvence in the 12th (remember: I don't give coordinates on subsequent visits after my first) was a revelation a few weeks ago and today we took one look at the price - 24 E for 3 courses - and the three of us who met 50 years ago thought we'd flipped back 50 years.
For starters Colette had the zucchini with sardines and fresh cheese and our local friend and I had the fried shrimp and shaved radishes - both were superb.
For mains, our friend had the beautiful pink pork with Jerusalem artichokes and onions marinated in coffee reduction and Colette and I had tender poulpe with broccoli a la plancha with a moderately assertive citrus sauce.
And for dessert, we passed around delicious dishes of poached pear and soft prunes, each with interesting sauces.
Our bill with two bottles of wine and 5 coffees was 150 E for three, thus 100 E a couple. This was despite a 5.50 E bottled water that we were not aware was substituted for a carafe d'eau. But the Brazilian young lady who took our order was so charming we didn't dispute the mistake.
