Prequel: After a series of different chefs and different names, Les Saisons established itself as a spectacular and consistent restaurant in the 9th under the direction of Jonathan Lutz and his exuberant wife Kiki. So it was with shock that I heard from a dear friend who lives literally around the corner that the place was under totally new management by three guys from Le Meurice. When I telephoned to enquire, the responder said, indeed things had changed and I was welcome to come back and try it (he didn't have my name).
5.1 Les Saisons (the .1 is for the terribly welcoming wait-staff and especially the wine guy who rather than crush my suggested choice, expounded on its virtues and composition.), 52 rue Lamartine in the 9th 01.48.78.15.18, (Metro: ND de Lorette) looks much the same outside and in.
My friend chose the mackerel ceviche and I the veal tartare, both were ok but not explode in your mouth stuff. Ditto for the huge souris d'agneau which except for the sauce on the puree (yes, me, I liked the potatoes today) was again just OK.
For desserts, my friend had the cooked pineapple and I the creme brulee, which again were solid but no shooting stars.
Our bill, with a bottle and 2 glasses of wine (yes, we did enjoy it very much) and a Perrier plus two coffees was 96.60 E
Go back? Not even out of curiosity with so many other great places in the 9th nearby, think Condesa.
