6.7 Food, 26, rue Saint Paul in the 4th, 09.81.10.69.68, closed Sundays and Mondays is very new but is already so full that every seat but one was taken today. They have a 23€ “menu” with 2 courses and a "lunch formule" of 18€. My friend whom I first encountered in France in 1953 works and lives in the Marais and I struggle to find places near her to go to. Today I struck paydirt.
We old friends started with fresh sardines with an intriguing condiment of corn and scallions and Colette had what was called a “mojito” of cod wrapped in shredded wheat with a fabulous sauce of lime, olive oil and mint.
Then my friend had an “assiette vegetarian” and I had a tasty but chewy onglet of beef with some of the best mashed potatoes I’ve ever had. Colette skipped a main and went straight to a fine lemon mousse with caramel strips.
Our bill, with a bottle and a glass of wine from Jajakistan, I’m not kidding, but not coffee (they were out of Illy), was 91.50€ or 60.50€ a couple. Db’s = 86.2
Go? Despite the name, but yes; great price/quality.
