5.8 Korus, 73 Rue Amelot in the 11th, 01.55.28.53.31, closed Saturday noon, Mondays and Tuesdays (Metro: Chemin Vert) has gotten great buzz and one of my most trusted sources told me I must go. As I approached, the ardois looked most promising, 20€ albeit for a forced 2-2-2 choice “menu.”
One of us started with an endives and other stuff salad which he liked a lot, while his husband and I had the mousse of foie gras with a taste none of us could pin down, but terrific, yes, fantastic bread.
Then the two of them had a nice piece of cod each on top of haricots verts cut into microscopic pieces and toasted quinoa with baby mussels, quite good, while I had a lacquered leg and thigh of duck with cooked quinoa that was so sweet I wanted to spit it out (My Asian friend, a cooking teacher and caterer, who normally hates sugery things said “what do you do with pork, salt it, what do you do with duck, suger it.”). Yah, but, there are limits.
For dessert we had an order of fine cheese, some pound cake with good figs and kind of scrimpy minimadeleines and teeny meringues with coffee.
Our bill, with two bottles of wine, was 130€ or 93.32€ a couple.
Go back? They will, I won’t.
