6.6 L’Invitee, 8, rue Thenard in the 5th, 01.43.54.59.47, closed Sundays and Mondays (Metro: Maubert-Mutualite) has good fengshui, sitting as it does in the space occupied for two decades by the Pre Verre, which brought so many exciting dishes at such good prices to the midst of Vieux Campeur Land. Both my eating/colleague partner and I had errands to do but wound up in their sea of blue chairs about the same time.
We both started with a terrific tartare of lieu jaune with lemon and ginger sauce and shredded picklet beets and seaweed and even more terrific bread, my, my friend said “This is very good John.”
Then he had a slice of suckling pig, which I passed up having had more than I could eat yesterday.
To finish, he had the creme brûlée and I, what I wanted and needed, poached figs with almond ice cream and toasted/caramelized nut bits.
Our bill, with a bottle and glass of wine and two coffees, was 102€. Db’s were unmeasurably low.
Go? Why not? The fang shui plus Simone de Beauvoir’s first novel’s lingering trace deserve it.
