7.7 La Fabrique de Bouchons, 17, rue de Brochant in the 17th, 01.58.59.06.47, closed Sundays and Mondays (Metro: Brochant) is but a few steps away from two places (La Cantine de Meme and Le Petit Boutary) I had very good meals at recently. What's going on here in the 17th?
My friends who live not far from me arrived a bit before I did and said "Will you look at the menu - 20 E for 2 courses, 23 E for 3." Wow. Madame (author most recently of Soup Nights: Satisfying Soups and Side for Delicious Meals All Year), had the whole works: an egg in a creamy parmesan sauce, risotto with veggies and a strawberry-rhubarb-ice cream dessert while Monsieur, delighted that his new book (Sudden Courage: Youth in France Confront the Germans 1940-1945) which will appear in August, was already reviewed in Publishers Weekly, was content to sip Chateldon and wine to go with his risotto. Me, (no book left), I saved my pennies, Richard Quest, and had sauteed sweetbreads with artichoke hearts and potatoes, that just knocked Coretta's off the podium, they were that good.
Our bill, with said fizzy and wine and two coffees, was 117 E or 78 E a couple. Very good bread and dB's= 75.9
Go back? As fast as my feet will carry me.
