7.8 Le Petit Boutary, 16, rue Jacquemont in the 17th, (Metro: La Fourche) 01.46.27.76.23, closed Sundays and Mondays, is an off-shoot of the left bank Boutary, which was founded in 1888, that's 1888; versus this place, founded in 2018. The kitchen looks decidedly Asiatic, indeed the chef one Jay Wook Hur is Japanese-Korean, but the cooking is decidedly French-French. I looked at the carte and saw no dishes listed so I asked for the ardoise and the front-room guy said "I am the ardoise." Ok. As websites have noted, it's a 2-2-2 "surprise menu" 25 E for 2 courses, 32 E for 3.
For starters we had portions of smoked salmon with potatoes and poulpe with a dazzling spicy mussel tartare.
For mains, Madame had an onglet de boeuf with another kind of potato that she declared (and I agreed) was the best she'd ever had and the 2 gents had raie a la plancha with spicy baby tomatoes and bok choi. My oh my!
For dessert, we had deconstructed rhubarb fluff and strawberries and chocolate two ways. Terrific.
With three glasses of wine, their fizzy water and 2 coffees, our bill was 114.50 E or 76.32 E a couple.
Come back? Yup, despite the weird thin flatware!
