Coretta, 151 bis rue Cardinet in the 17th has such charm, such a warm welcome and such a consistently interesting yet comprehensive carte that its a natural choice for us on any Sunday afternoon, even one as dank and dusky as today. Disclosure: part of that welcome was Beatriz Gonzalez's gracious gift of some champagne for the table.
Our two friends from way over in the Tour Totem, famous for students of Prof. Pierre Capretz's French in Action, ordered starters of crab with sorbet and ceviche of chinchard, both of whish were spectacular. Then M. had what I usually order, the sweetbreads and the rest of the table indulged in the first wild duck of the season with figs and beets. We all wound up with brioche with caramel and ice cream. Delish, all!
Our bill, with a bottle and glass of wine and coffees, was 224E or 112E a couple.
