6.1 Mieux, 21, rue Saint Lazare in the 9th, 01.71.32.46.73, reservations imperative, closed Saturday lunch and Sundays, (Metro: Notre Dame de Lorette), is the heart of the 9th and is a place I came up with for a friend who asked to eat at one of the places I tend to stumble on, not in a hotel, department store, tourist area, etc. Well, this was it. The carte is simple enough looking and beautifully priced, 3 courses for 26€ and the place was jam packed with locals.
For firsts he had the pork terrine with pickles and I had superb ceviche of black mullet on top of chunks of warm potatoes with tasty mayonnaise. Then while he had a risotto carnaroli which I thought had just the right amount of ricotta cheese to make it interesting - I had two generous slices of black footed chicken breast with beans and carrots and onions. To finish up, he had the clafoutis of figs and I had roasted peaches.
Our bill, with a bottle of lovely Rhone and 2 coffees, was 89€. Db’s were an excessive 81.4, not helped by a screaming kid whose parents left him while going to the loo. Handicapped accessible.
Go back? For a simple but thoroughly good meal in the nabe, sure.
